RCA 11A SERIES VACUUM DIRECTIONAL GYRO

The RCA-11A series of vacuum directional gyros utilizes an air driven precision gyro that controls a vertical rotating azimuth gimbal. The R.C. Allen Model RCA11A has been designed to provide years of accurate operation even when subjected to severe operating requirements. This instrument is engineered with a minimum of machined parts, providing lower initial cost and lower maintenance cost throughout its lifetime.
The 11A-8F has a vacuum failure flag when vacuum has dropped below 3.5 inch Hg.
The RCA11A is non-tumbling within +85° limits in pitch and roll and can be easily installed in any 3 1/8″ standard panel cut out. Full freedom design allows for accurate indication, even after extreme maneuvers. We use stainless steel at critical wear points, along with aluminum investment and die castings for longer instrument life.

RCA 82A/83A 3″ INDICATOR

Our turn coordinator is very popular and can be found in many production aircraft around the world. It contains an electrically driven gyroscope which is supported in a gimbal inclined to the horizon so that the instrument senses roll as well as yaw. The RCA 82A/83A Series is an all-volt instrument that works from 11 to 30VDC. The turn motion is presented by an airplane symbol banking on a fixed horizon with a power warning flag.

Our popular RCA 56 Series Turn-and-Bank is a rate-of-turn pointer controlled instrument which is powered by an electrically driven DC precision gyro. Along with it’s built in inclinometer, It gives the pilot accurate turn and bank information.  The RCA56 series is an all-volt instrument that works from 11VDC to 30VDC. This is a 2-minute turn instrument which features a power warning flag, your choice of either a black or white inclinometer ball and comes as lighted or non-lighted.

TURN FACTS

A turn-and-slip indicator will sense rotation only about the vertical axis of the aircraft. It tells nothing of the rotation around the longitudinal axis, which in normal flight occurs before the aircraft begins to turn.
A turn coordinator operates on gyro precession, the same as the turn indicator, but its gimbal frame is angled upward about 30° from the longitudinal axis of the aircraft. This allows it to sense both roll and yaw.
The inclinometer or “coordinator ball” shows the relationship between the bank angle and the rate of yaw. The turn is “coordinated” when the ball is centered. The aircraft is “skidding” when the ball rolls toward the outside of the turn and is “slipping” when it moves toward the inside.

Our featured Torque Indicator is a wet line, direct reading bourdon tube type instrument, housed in a 2” diameter case. Unit can be calibrated over a wide rage of PSI input to direct read torque.

Units can be furnished to your specifications. Indicate needed pressure input and pressure-to-torque conversion. This unit cannot be damaged by oil back- up in vent line.

Our 12-2004 Series Voltammeter is a moving coil type, designed for aircraft use. Combined voltage and current scales to save panel space. Normally reads circuit current with press for volt knob.

LOW VOLTAGE INDICATOR

Amber light will come on at the moment of a low voltage condition which will inform the pilot that attention is needed to the alternator, generator, or voltage regulator. Any of these conditions allowed to continue will result in a weak or completely discharged battery condition and loss of radio and electrical equipment.
Our light features a built in dimmer and press-to-test with an amber or red lens.
